Last weekend I set out with these two lovely ladies, Shannon and Megan, and we headed east toward the desert for a weekend of relaxing in the sun and basking in our friendship!

The high point of our days was normally the food we ate and one of our favorite places we visited was the King’s Highway at the Ace Hotel.

They converted an old Denny’s into this incredible, but simple restaurant. Everything down to the menu and the rope details was lovely…

It didn’t hurt that their food was delicious either!

We made a visit to Koffi because we had noticed it as we drove by and it proved to be a pleasant place with good coffee.

We paid visits to some architectural points of interest also–the historic Tramway Gas Station that welcomes all visitors to Palm Springs with it’s big, modern awning

And a neighborhood of modular steel houses from the 60s designed by Donald Wexler.

The weekend was a relaxing and wonderful time with beautiful people and lovely things to look at. What more could I ask for??

Now I’m off for another weekend adventure!

the ace hotels are fantastic; i stayed at both the portland and seattle ones and i have to say they are definitely my favorite hotels. they even gave you earplugs.

Hello!

I’ve been an avid reader of your blog for a few months now, and I just have to tell you that I love everything you put up! You’re a great designer and artist :)

I was just wondering how you got into working as a member of the visual team for Anthro. I’m really interested in taking classes, or interning to learn the ropes about visual merchandising. I think it’s fascinating and something I’d like to work into a professional avenue. Please let me know if you have any tips!

Thanks so much!
Kacia
