Hatch + Anthro

cover

This months Anthropologie catalog couldn’t arrive fast enough for my anxious little heart.  I had read about the process, location, and contributers, long before I was able to hold a full color copy in my hands.  I was so pumped to see it and I was SO excited when it finally arrived in the store!

For this catalog, Anthropologie decided to collaborate with Hatch Show Print.  Not only am I obsessed and in love with Hatch’s work, but it is my brother-in-law’s uncle’s print shop!  It is one of my top destinations to visit and I would work there in a heart beat if I ever found myself in Nashville.  They print with wood blocks, most of them vintage, and they have been doing printed posters for musicians and events for a loong time.  Check out this book–It’s been on my wishlist for awhile now!

So Hatch did the front and back cover and typographic elements throughout the catalog.  I mean, check out these covers…gorgeous!

The reason why Anthro collaborated with Hatch Show Print was because they were shooting the catalog in Austin, Texas and they wanted to continue that Southern Rosk Music feel.  Now, Austin is absolutely incredbile.  Such a great vibe, fun culture, awesome people, constant music, good tex mex, etc. etc.  I could go on and on about how much I like Austin.  But go ahead and look at these photos and you’ll understand what I mean…

Alamo Drafhouse is so raad—it’s a movie theater and restaurant.  So great!

Since they were shooting in Austin around March, Anthro decided to feature a few SXSW bands and have them model some clothes.

I know I’m a little intense and obsessed with this catalog, but I am just so excited about the merging of music, design, and Anthro fashion in this catalog. I just love the idea of collaboration and how well everything worked together.  I think it is our most interesting catalog ever and I am excited to see more like this!

What do you guys think?

I was so happy when this catalog came! It looks like nothing I’ve ever seen Anthro do and I definitely like the direction they took with it :] The photographs turned out beautifully.

words escaped me as i looked at this catalog. most of the people that work in my store aren’t such geeks about stuff like this, and as i was totally fawning over the beautiful typography and images… i mean, nashville (swoon) and austin (swoon). there’s a place in my heart for both of those cities, and throw in the classic southern, down home, scenes “found on the side of the road” feel, this is by far my favorite catalog. oh… and of course it’s your brother-in-law’s uncle!! :)

I love it so much. I live in Nashville, and have worked with Hatch Show before…I love them and I almost fainted when I saw the catalog. Literally.

I never got this catalog, and I was so disappointed! Was it an in-store only issue? I don’t suppose you stock piled any extra copies…? :]
