Lino Block

img_7046

A few months back, I started a project to make some note cards. I decided to use my Lyon Art Supply gift certificate and buy some of my own lino block-ing supplies. I already had a blade and brayer, but I needed new linoleum and inks. So I stocked up (the inks were on sale too!) and went to work carving my block…

The pattern is based on a wallpaper pattern I saw in the hallway of a chateau in France (sounds snobby, I know…but it’s really not). I just love the mix of geometric and organic-ish. I tweaked it a little, made some changes and carved the block!

I only printed two colors–kelly green and teal, and I think they turned out great for a first attempt. They are simple panel cards, printed on one side, with a silver border, and in a white envelope. Clean, simple, modern and fun!

More lino blocking projects coming soon and maybe some for sale on Etsy! We’ll see….

These are gorgeous! I’ve always wanted to try lino carving, but it looks like just one mistake would ruin everything. You must have quite steady hands, and loads of patience.
